The REI glass emphasises irregularity – the random organic cut embodies the unconventional approach to women's fashion that the Japanese fashion designer Rei Kawakubo's brand has continued to promote to this day. In 1969, she founded her label CDG (Comme des Garçons), under which she presented collections of “boyfriend” clothes for women. She was strongly opposed to the baring of the female body, which she considered boring, and created fashion for confident and independent women.
