How to care for crystal
Crystal was first discovered at the end of the 17th century and its production in the Czech lands has a rich tradition. It is valued for its beauty and artistic value. Crystal can be richly decorated with intricate cuts or elegantly clear and pure in its natural radiant beauty. We bring you some tips on how to care for crystal.
1. First use
Before use, first remove any traces of adhesive left by labels. Then rinse the crystal products by hand in warm water, using only a small amount of mild detergent. Then leave to dry.
2. Crystal washing
We recommend washing Rückl hand-blown crystal glass by hand in lukewarm water with a soft sponge or cloth to prevent mechanical damage to the glass when washing in the dishwasher. If you want to put the glass in the dishwasher, give it enough space.
When washing your crystal to remove stains and dried dirt, you can also add vinegar to the soapy water. Finally, dry the crystal by gently wiping it with a clean piece of cloth to prevent water from settling.
3. Crystal is sensitive to temperature
Bohemian crystal is a fascinating material. If you own a piece with a deep cut, be careful of sudden temperature changes, such as those caused by hot or cold drinks. These can increase the internal stress of the glass and cause it to crack. However, we generally do not recommend crystal glass for hot drinks. Do not put crystal in a conventional or microwave oven or in the freezer.
4. Handle the crystal with care
The characteristic design of Rückl glasses is a robust base and a thin upper rim. Remember that the latter is the most fragile and can be damaged if handled carelessly.
Other sharp objects can also scratch the crystal surface. Whenever you wash or store glass, leave space between each piece.
Treat your glasses, jugs and vases with care . If you take care of your Rückl crystal products with care, they will retain their unique quality for generations.
