How to care for crystal
The crystal was first discovered at the end of the 17th century and its production in the Czech lands has a rich tradition. It is prized for its beauty and artistic value. The crystal can be richly decorated with intricate cut or elegantly clear and clean in its natural radiant beauty. Here are some tips on how to care for the crystal.
1. First use
Before use, first remove any traces of adhesive left by the labels. Then rinse the crystal products by hand with warm water, using only a small amount of mild detergent. Then let it dry.
2. Washing the crystal
We recommend washing Rückl crystal hand-blown glass by hand in lukewarm water with a soft sponge or cloth to prevent mechanical damage to the glass when washing in the dishwasher. If you want to put the glass in the dishwasher, give it enough space.
When washing the crystal from stains and dried dirt, you can also add vinegar to the soapy water. Finally, dry the crystal by gently wiping with a clean piece of cloth to prevent water from settling.
3. The crystal is sensitive to temperature
Czech crystal is a charming material. If you own a deep-cut piece, be careful of sudden temperature changes that can be caused by hot or too cold drinks. These can increase the internal stress of the glass and cause it to break. In principle, however, we do not recommend crystal glass for hot drinks. Do not put the crystal in a conventional or microwave oven or freezer.
4. Handle the crystal carefully
The characteristic shape of Rückl glasses is a robust base and a thin upper edge. Remember that it is the most fragile and can be damaged if handled carelessly.
Other sharp objects can also scratch the crystal surface. Whenever you wash or store the glass, leave free space between the individual pieces.
Handle glasses, jugs and vases carefully. If you take care of your Rückl crystal products with feeling, they will retain their unique quality, even for generations.
